Welcome Tim is Bored.
This blog is intended to be a sort of online writing notebook. You'll likely find things written about writing, as well as random scribbled ideas, notes to myself about things I might like to write, writing exercises, etc. Basically, anything short of actual drafts (for legal reasons. Although, if you'd like to read one and give me feedback, that can be arranged.).
Everything on here is in rough form, and views stated on this blog are the views of the characters involved, and not necessarily my own.

I'm spending this Thanksgiving in Seattle. It gives me a bit of a different perspective on things. This year, I'm thankful for all the people who I hardly ever see, but who I can still strike up a friendly conversation with as though I talked to them yesterday. I'm thankful I can take a week's . . . ( More)

But it's the longest I've gone without a response in months. In the meantime, have 3 more short stories to revives, and am putting short fiction on simmer while I get this novel done. The next couple of short sto . . . ( More)

So, I'm officially published here. Also, I have now hit a new record of works being submitted at once, at 9 stories. This is enough that most of the places I want to submit to are already reading things that I've submitted to them. This is good. . . . ( More)

Of the 8 pieces that I'm currently submitting and/or are seeing print, 5 of them are part of an extended experiement to try and figure out flash fiction. I think there were 9 pieces to come out of that experiment altogether, but these 5 were the ones that needed the least revision. Of the other . . . ( More)

I've just killed a charater by means of a lawnmower that spins and shoots flames.
Which pretty much demonstrates once again that a huge amount of things that I write consist of people doing things that, back in the days of wandering around in high school, Saladin thought was a good idea. . . . ( More)

I am officially a paid writer.
Today, my paypal today recieved a payment of $6.54, making this the most profitable story I have ever written. Which is to say, the only profitable story I've ever written.
As an hourly rate... well, that's a bit more depressing.

I got behind on my fiction writing and revisions through the semester.
I'm slowly getting caught back up, but it takes time to get the creative muscles in shape again.
In the meantime, I'm writing a business plan. It's kind of neat. Writers often talk about how things they write can change the . . . ( More)

Every now and then I submit something to Fantasy and Science Fiction Magazine. They're one of the few pro markets that I actually find readable (and the one that is dying the slowest. Go figure.), and they send rejections quickly. They also have the friendliest form letter rejection in the industry. . . . ( More)

This pretty much describes my current career in a college writing program:
"Working hard doesn't burn you out. Being bored burns you out."
I was working harder when I wasn't in school, and was less bored. Damn it.
